The Sekunjalo Group is a collation of companies and investments and funds. It is self-funding, capital-intensive, and strategic in its investments.
The Group’s focus is on three specific areas:
Sekunjalo Holdings - a private holding company and the controlling shareholder of JSE-listed Sekunjalo Investments Limited, with significant strategic stakes and large investments in the following areas: Siemens, Nokia Siemens Networks and associate companies – Modjadji African Empowerment Consortium Limited, Sekunjalo Telecom Holdings (Pty) Ltd, Umkhankas iKapa Investments (Pty) Ltd, Mzimvubu Energy and African Resources (Pty) Ltd, Siyolo Energy and African Resources (Pty) Ltd, Schmitzdrift Mining (Pty) Ltd and Sandown Motor Holdings (Pty) Ltd.
JSE-listed Sekunjalo Investments Limited which has majority control of its major investments. From 2009 the controlling shareholder has taken a decision to put the listed company in a position to acquire strategic investments through shareholder support, such as investments into British Telecomm and SAAB Defence.
A private equity black empowerment investment fund which supports specifically influential black individuals and black-owned businesses that have significant influence in the South African economy, good deal-flows and access to good transactions, but who don’t want to access public capital markets and prefer private shareholders. The fund is also a key driver and funder of black consortiums, resulting in a whole host of transactions. The fund utilises a combination of the capital of Sekunjalo Group and capital raised in global capital markets, investing in associated companies of the Sekunjalo Group, which in turn are funded by and supported by capital provided by the shareholders of Sekunjalo Holdings and Sekunjalo Investments Limited.
