Rio +20 Earth Summit
“Rio+20” is the shortened name of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development which took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in June 2012 – twenty years after the landmark 1992 Earth Summit in Rio. At the Rio+20 Conference, world leaders, along with thousands of participants from the private sector, and NGOs, came together to shape how we can reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection on an ever more crowded planet.
3 Laws Climate Change Fund
3 Laws Capital is a Cape Town-based, black-owned Investment Management Company with a unique focus on sustainable investing. In April 2013, 3 Laws Capital launched South Africa’s first Climate Change Fund. The planetary-wide response to anthropogenic (man-made) climate change will affect all investments and the shift away from a carbon based economy is a mega trend that will impact every part of the global economy.
COP17 Nobel Laureate Symposium
For the very first time, in 2011, COP was hosted in Africa, in the effort to create a united position on climate change original to Africa, who had never shared a united standpoint on the issue of climate change.
The 17th COP meeting was held in Durban by partnering organisations; the Survé Family Foundation and Sekunjalo Development Foundation, along with the Stockholm Environment Institute which was funded by the Swedish Postal Code Lottery, who provided the research which established one of the first scientific breakthroughs of the climate debate.
